The Cookie of All Cookies

The Cookie of All Cookies

The Cookie of All Cookies recipe is a huge family favorite at my house! The easy recipe combines chocolate chips and toffee bits, into a soft chewy cookie!

This famous cookie was selected among more than 34,000 recipes in the Taste of Home recipe contest.  When the winner found out her recipe would be shared in the Best of the County Cookies cookbook, she did not share the recipe.  The picture of the winning cookies was on the cover of the cookbook, but cookbook owners soon found out the featured recipe was kept a secret.

On a trip a few years ago, we toured the Taste of Home test kitchen in Wisconsin. This was the recipe they made in their test kitchen when we were there.

We did receive the secret recipe for The Cookie of All Cookies, it was not in the cookbook.  They included the recipe on an extra recipe card.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars

Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars

I was with some friends, sharing my chocolate chip cookie bars. I made a comment I haven't blogged this recipe yet! They couldn't believe it.  Something so simple, and easy to make and I am not sharing with my blog readers!

When you have a simple recipe, you take for granted how others may need a simple recipe in their life as well. Using cake mix simplifies this dessert!  I suggest using yellow. I have used white, but the yellow cake mix has the best flavor! When your kids/husband is craving cookies, you make them Chocolate Chip Bars! They are out of the oven in 20 minutes!

I am not exaggerating when I say I make this weekly.  It may not go with our diet, but the kids LOVE them! Mason requests the "Middle" only! He has also bargained, "Mom, if I eat my supper, will you make Chocolate Chip Cookie Bars?"

The family is literally digging the bars out of the pan before it cools down.  So the bars do NOT normally look as nice as they do in these photos. Especially, when a four-year-old is helping himself to the middle.

This is such an easy recipe, you will make sure your pantry is stocked with these simple ingredients all the time. Yellow cake mix and milk chocolate chips.  You can pour the whole bag of chips in, or save some for later, or for now.

This is so easy, keep your hand mixer in the cabinet.  Mix the chocolate chip bar mixture by hand with a spatula. Trust me on this one.  It just comes out better that way, and it is not over-mixed.

Crock Pot Lava Cake

Crock Pot Lava Cake

The weekend before Valentine's Day, Macie pulled out a farm magazine, and told me, "Papa wanted me to make this." She had it saved in her room, so she wouldn't forget. She had it hidden in her closet. Maybe because that was the easiest place to find it.  If you can imagine a pre-teen room, that is exactly what her's looks like.

She was in charge of this recipe, and I was excited to see her try a crock-pot recipe!

This was my chance to watch her find all the ingredients (I hoped we had all of the ingredients!) This is a simple recipe, so you will most likely have all ingredients.

This recipe was tucked inside  the February edition of The Progressive Farmer magazine.  Between features on irrigation and new generation farmers, is a recipe about sugar, and lava cake.  Recipe credit goes to Rachel Johnson, Stupid Good Food.

I am sure someone licked the spatula, who can resist!?

After a couple hours in the crock pot, it looked delicious! Very easy dessert recipe! She called papa to come down for dessert, she had a surprise for him!

Ag Question: What is a FAIR price of milk?

Ag Question: What is a FAIR price of milk?

Who doesn't love milk? Growing up, there was always milk in our house.  I loved chocolate milk.  I loved ice cream, and I loved when my Grandpa Charlie would make home made ice cream on my birthday.  I remember him sitting out on our porch "in charge" of the ice cream.  I don't remember the cake, but I remember the ice cream.

Now I am living in the third largest county in Indiana where dairy production is literally just around the corner! Jasper County is the leading agricultural producing county in the state and leading in milk production. My kids love milk, but when they get older, it's easier to pick sodas over milk.  What should parents do to make sure kids have their daily calcium?

Fair Oaks Farms has done a tremendous job showing consumers how milk is produced.  If you are ever in Northwestern Indiana, you need to stop by their farm.  Fair Oaks Farms has partnered with local producers to take milk to a whole new level.

Fairlife milk is a company where they are aware of all of the aspects of harvest corn for silage, they have good relationships with the dairy producers and know where the milk originates. The milk is "ultra-filtered" to keep the proteins, and filter out the sugars.

Have you tried their milk? It is heavenly! Chocolate is my favorite!  So delicious. It is totally worth it.Vanilla is good, but I have always preferred chocolate milk. Let's take a look at the nutritional values of both fairlife and Dean's milk.

Both servings shown are a cup.  Protein in fairlife is 13g, 8g for Deans. Sodium and carbs are the same.  So if you want to increase your proteins in your diet, and decrease sugars, fairlife might be something  you want to try.   I like the idea of fairlife milk because this milk is being "made" a few miles from my house.  It's  not hard to find in stores around here.

Now, let's head to the store. Let's talk about price.  It's our job as moms to be price conscious when we are figuring out our monthly budget.  What is more valuable? Better price or healthier?
